Tried to make a bill payment online from my sole account and it wont go through...strange.
Tried my sole account card in the cashpoint in our village. No joy.
Tried my joint account card in the cashpoint in our village. No joy.
Tried my wife's joint account card - this would be sure to work as she has had tax credits and child benefit paid in. No joy.
Tried my wife's sole account card - VOILA.
Oh SHIT, REALISATION HAS HIT. LLOYDS HAVE FROZEN ALL MY ACCOUNTS AND ANY JOINT ACCOUNTS TOO.
All very well but the only card that works is my wife's sole account. No worries, she can log in online to the joint account and will be able to transfer money to her sole account. Surely? SURELY NOT!
Wife is going nuts. On the phone to the bank for hours between the pair of us. LOL, they couldn't even tell us why nothing was working and said it must be a problem with the cash point. It was only when we insisted on speaking to a manager they were able to tell us that they had received notification of the bankruptcy and had frozen everything. The only way forward from here was to visit a branch and ask them to release the money. I'm working 10 hours tomorrow, my wife will have to go. She is a real complainer and of course pushes for the bank to pay her taxi fare. Finally this gets agreed that they will pay this to her in cash over the counter when she is in the branch tomorrow. Of course, she will be going in her own car. My wife asks to book an appointment with the Branch Manager several times and is assured that she will not need an appointment. So the reality is, the only funds we have to pay for anything at this moment in time is my wife's credit card. She is adamant we can't cut it up in case we need it for emergencies. But the whole point of this bankruptcy was to end the debt for good. We are both in agreement not to use the credit card for now.
Stressful evening. Not paid the kids any attention. Son has seen his Mummy in tears. Time for bed.
